Although I read nearly 70 books this year, I am not sure if I’ll be able to match that ever again. The thought of having a goal of more than 50 puts me into a paralyzing shock. This year’s number one goal is to begin my career!
I have hopes for this blog. Not sky-high, but hopes high enough that, if I post something here at least once a week, I think it could be considered a healthy, active blog. Now it’s a matter of finding the time and figuring out the content…Any suggestions? What would you like to see on here?
Because Quirk Books seems to like my sporadically submitted and published blog posts, and many ideas were tossed around and approved, it’s time I devote even more of my spare moments on researching and blogging for more Quirk content.
The fourth goal is something I really need help with. Excuses can be made for everything, but now it’s a serious situation: lack of space for new books combined with my inability to read as quickly as I buy means I have way too many books I need to get around to reading. So any books that are going to be purchased this year, the books that canΒ break this rule, are the next installments of trilogies/series that are forthcoming in 2014.
Finally, because libraries are important and I do have several library cards, I plan to use the library more. I’m certain I made this goal last year and I failed miserably (apart from researching for my thesis, which does not count in this case).
Let’s hope I can stick to these! What are your bookish 2014 resolutions? If you don’t have any resolutions per se, what’s your reading goal?

Great goals…I totally understand the need to buy fewer books. (Both financially, and space-wise.) But that’s a hard goal for me to keep. Luckily, I have a library close by. π I’ve loved reading your blog posts this year, so I’m glad you’ll be around next year, too. Good luck with all your 2014 goals!

Thank you so much for commenting throughout the year!

Great goals for 2014!!! I have quite a few similar ones (that I’m saving for my TTT post this week π ). I definitely need to use the library more! I’m also moving to using the ebook sample chapter feature before buying and if I’m going to buy, buying ebook so as to save room b/c yes, books add up (space wise) quickly!
Here’s to a fabulous 2014!
Laura
Thank you! Yeah I posted it before I realized TTT would have one tomorrow. Whoops!
Oh gosh, I may just have to do the same as you with the ebook resolution. It’s getting very difficult finding places to put all the books now.
Happy 2014 — I’ll check out your resolutions tomorrow!

I love your goals for 2014. I especially like #4 and #5–I feel like both are things that I need to work on as well. I have a pile of purchased books that I buy and then forget about when I see the next pretty cover in the bookstore. And the library is awesome! I always go when I can.
Good luck with your 2014 resolutions! Thanks for stopping by my blog today.

Thank you for stopping by mine! It appears bloggers have issues with shiny new things and hoarding…We all seem to have TBR/must-read-so-many-books-before-buying resolutions.

The “read five, buy one” goal is such a good idea! I think I need to try that out because I seem to have the same problems as you with buying too many books.
